After getting my BS and MS in Chemical Engineering, I worked for Procter & Gamble for 34 years, retiring as a Research Fellow. After retirement I attended the College of Mt. St. Joseph to earn a BFA in Sculpture. I serve on a School Board and the Board for the Regional Engineers & Scientists of Cincinnati. I have been a volunteer scout leader for the BSA for 40 years, and I volunteer as a Teaching Assistant at MSJ. I am product development consultant with YourEncore.
I actually have never met a medium I didn't like. I have done acrylic murals in homes in Western Hills, Indian Hill, and Northern Kentucky, pencil portraits and drawings, caricatures, and large framed abstract paintings on canvas.
I like making woodcut prints of scenes and animals.
In my role as a product development consultant, I have created concept drawings for P&G, Unilever, General Mills, Coca-Cola, Kraft, and Green Mountain Coffee.
Sculpture, however, is my passion from ceramics and metal to mixed media. I especially enjoy creating sculpture from materials that would otherwise be destined for the dump.
In my art studies at MSJ, I took inspiration from the drawings of Da Vinci, the simplicity of Picasso, the abstraction of Pollock, and kinetics of Alexander Calder. However, my background in Sustainability and concern for the environment, led me to look for ways to recycle and reuse materials for my sculptures. I was very aware of chemical toxins associated with sending electronics to land fill. That inspired me to create wall and table sculptures from printed circuit boards.
